What About Newborn Safety?

Whether I’m photographing your baby in my studio or bringing my mobile studio to your home, safety doesn’t change.

Newborn photography is one of those things that can look effortless in the finished photograph, but there is a lot happening behind the scenes.

I’ve spent 10 years working with newborns and learning safe handling and posing techniques. I never force a baby into a position simply because I want a particular photograph.

Baby leads the session.

Some of the more advanced newborn poses you see online may also be created as composites, meaning multiple photographs are combined so the baby can remain supported during photography.

And while photography posing isn’t the same thing as sleep, it’s worth remembering that props and photography setups aren’t intended to be infant sleep environments. For everyday sleep, parents should follow current safe-sleep recommendations from the American Academy of Pediatrics’ HealthyChildren.org.

Your baby’s safety will always matter more to me than getting a photograph.

Which Newborn Session Is Better for Families With Siblings?

This one depends entirely on your family.

Some older siblings do beautifully in the studio. They come in, we make them feel involved, get those sweet sibling images and let them take breaks when needed.

But for some toddlers?

Home is their kingdom.

They have their toys, snacks, favorite blanket and familiar surroundings nearby. That’s one reason mobile newborn photography in Raleigh can be a fantastic choice for families welcoming baby number two, three or four.

Your toddler doesn’t have to sit perfectly and smile on command.
